LMSC hosts the annual Thistle class "Bottoms Up" invitational regatta each June. Come and join us for another outstanding event on beautiful Lake Murray! This event has a long history of great racing, great food and lots of fun. This year will be no exception!

Racing on Saturday will be capped off with a cocktail party & some down home "Farm Boys" Barbeque!

Lunches will be available on Sunday Only

Notice Of Race

1. Rules: The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in the current Racing Rules of Sailing 2005- 2008 and the rules of the Thistle Class Association.

2. Entries: Eligible boats may be entered by completing registration and must be registered
and dues paying members of the Thistle Class Association.

3. Sailing Instructions: The Sailing Instructions will be available at registration.

4. Scoring: The low point scoring system, rule A2, will apply, except that each boat’s series score will the total of all her scores. Five (5) races are scheduled, of which one race shall be completed to constitute a series.

5. Prizes: Trophies will be awarded for the top five places.

6. Lodging: Club grounds will be open Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday. Camping is allowed.

No pets allowed. Hotels are available at exits 101 and 102 off of I-26 (see #10 below).

No warning signal to be given after 12:00 Sunday.

8. Directions:

From Columbia: I-26, West toward Spartanburg. Take the Peak exit (#97). Turn left, and cross over I-26. Immediately as you leave the bridge, turn right as though you are returning to the interstate going back towards Columbia, (you will not return to I-26). About 50 yards down the ramp, turn left on Rauch Metz Rd. (Hwy 959), and continue about 2-miles and the road will dead-end at Hwy. #76. Turn right, (West) on Hwy # 76. Continue 3.2 miles to the town of Hilton. Turn left at the stop light on Wessinger Rd. (Convenience store on S.E. corner). Drive 1.8 miles to the flashing yellow light and 4-way stop (Fire station on N.W. corner). Turn left on Old Lexington Hwy. Continue 1.5 miles, and turn left onto Jake Meetze Rd. Go 1.2 miles to the stop sign where the road dead-ends into Old Forge Road. Turn left on Old Forge Road, and LMSC is about 2-3 blocks on the right

From Spartanburg: Take I-26 to Chapin Exit, (Columbia Ave, Hwy #48 - Mile marker #91). Right turn, South on Columbia Ave, cross tracks, to the stop light on Hwy#76. Left turn, East on Hwy #76 at the light. Next light, right turn on Old Lexington Hwy (Cherries Restaurant on S.W. corner). About 5-miles, at the 4-way stop and flashing light, continue straight on Old Lexington Hwy. 1.5 miles, and turn left onto Jake Meetze Rd. Go 1.2 miles
to the stop sign where the road dead-ends into Old Forge Road. Turn left on Old Forge Road, and LMSC is about 2-3 blocks on the right.

* Important – Watch your speed in Chapin. As you enter town the speed drops
to 35 MPH as you are going down hill on Columbia Ave., and unless you brake,
you will be speeding, and they will take your money.

These motels are located off I-26 between LMSC, and Columbia, SC. They are
West of the I-20, and I-26 intersection.

If you are arriving on I-20 they are located about 5 minutes West on I-26
towards Spartanburg.

You should budget about 25-minutes driving time to LMSC.
