LMSC Championship Series
2007 Fleet and Commodore's Cup Championship Series

LMSC organizes its annual "Championship regattas each November. Competitors from each of the one-design fleets hosted by the club participate in a three race regatta to determine Champions for each of the club sanctioned fleets. A second three race regatta is held for competitors qualifying under our Portsmouth handicapping system during each year's Rodesiler series to determine an overall club champion.

For 2007, the Fleet Championship and Club Championship regattas are scheduled for November 10th and 19th respectively. To add an additional component of excitement and play this year, the Club Championship competition will be be sailed in the club's newly acquired FJ fleet.

Sailing instructions for both events are the same as for the Rodesiler series. For regatta start times, refer to the on-line "2007 Calendar". For post event results, please click on the appropriate link below.

Fleet Championship Results - Congratulations to Flying Scot Skippers Allan Gowans, Cole Hexel and their crews on their respective "A" and "B" division wins. Great sailing under challenging conditions! Competitors voted a great big "Thank You" to Frank McKinnon and crew for setting up three great courses under extremely shifty wind conditions. Frank and his race committee demonstrated excellent race management skills.

An unfortunate by-product of frisky and very gusty winds was a wise and safety minded decision by the Thistle fleet not to compete in the November 10th regatta. With only two person crews available, this fast but less beamy craft may have been a bit risky to manage in the blustery winds that prevailed for the event. If their 2007 Championship is sailed at a later date, results will be posted here.

Sadly, no competitors from our once active SJ 21 fleet declared for the LMSC Fleet Championship regatta. We hope to see you out there in 2008!

Commodore's Cup Championship Results - Congratulations to Cup winning team Tommy and Debbie Weaver whose consistency throughout the 5 race regatta placed them convincingly ahead of the 6 boat fleet. Conditions were exciting for the sailors experiencing their first time performance in nimble FJ's, a boat designed primarily for high school and collegiate racing teams. That competition was very close throughout the series was illustrated by a three way tie for second place points. Second, third, and fourth places were awarded using regular "tie breaker" rules based on best cores in individual races.

Thanks to Allan Gowans for managing race committee under yet another set of challenging wind conditions.
