March 18 – Shaping Sail
Spring Mar 18:  Training on Sail Shape  A slow Saturday morning start to our day begins with coffee and Danish at 9am and a seminar on sail shape. Joe Waters, our local sail maker and active sailor and racer will be our instructor.  Cruisers will learn how to make the best of sail shape with their current set of sails and receive special attention to the practice of reefing sails for increased winds.  Participants may assemble as a Flotilla after training to practice their skills.

May 20 – Cruiser Safety Training
May 20:  Training on Safety Before the Summer heat arrives we get together to talk Safety aboard your vessel.  West Marine’s Manager Greg Gisler and Associate Regan Voit will train us on this day with topics from USCG requirements plus, discussion on PFDs, MOB drills, Radio procedures and frequencies. West Marine will bring products for display and demonstrate usefulness and practicalities of having items in use aboard your vessel.

Summer 21 Aug Monday:  Solar Eclipse Flotilla
An orientation briefing at 11 am on the outdoor patio for those who can take the afternoon off work and share in this unique experience.  The eclipse which will pass directly over South Carolina on 21 August in our area from about 1 pm to 3 pm that afternoon.  To view details on line, click on the following URL:

Sailors will be invited to anchor in a designated vicinity and coordinate via theCruiser Frequency #68 upon arrival.  Some Early Bird Skippers may wish to overnight Sunday and anchor at our designated viewing location.  Concludes at will, as the light returns!

Fall 14 Oct: Winter Maintenance.
10 am Slow Start with Coffee and Sticky-Buns in the Clubhouse.  George Ashbridge will lead a question and answer training session on routine maintenance issues from propellers to cotter-pins, through-hulls, shrouds, centerboards and winterizing your vessel.
