Cruisers of the Lake Murray Sailing Club

rhiannon3LMSC has a diverse fleet of nearly 50 vessels of all varieties both in-the- water slips and some smaller ones on trailers. Our fleet is connected to the broader activities on Lake Murray sharing in events like the LMYRA and our own in-house Rodesiler events. Some race but most love to cruise, raft-up, enjoying their weekends aboard with family and friends. Our Cruising fleet is not a collection of boats stored in a marina, but an association of sailors who are actively involved in our Club, its activities, its mission and its approach to competent seamanship.

typoon3Our cruising fleet is well represented by a variety of vessels from trailerable Pocket Cruisers of 19 feet to a Hunter 34 and many designs in-between. LMSC has 3 docks which accommodate about 50 vessels at one of the most beautiful locations on Lake Murray. Our intent is to foster a fleet of cruisers of all types at our club to provide for an environment that promotes confident seamanship, offers opportunities for social interaction, and sustains ongoing learning that enables this fleet to become better sailors. Our slips are not available to the general public.

Situated on a sheltered cove across from the Lake Murray Power Squadron, the LMSC Cruising Fleet enjoys park-like club grounds to park and picnic if desired or from which to launch out towards Susie Ebert or Goat Island, and tackle the further reaches of Lake Murray.

alberg_rail_downSome upcoming activities of the Cruisers in 2017 are: Cruiser specific training for safety on the lake, knots and lines critical to safe care and handling of your vessel, lectures and training from several of our in-house accomplished sailors and outside professionals on safety gear, maintenance for engines, sail shape and techniques to make the most of your vessels capabilities, and much more.

LMSC Cruisers profit from being part of a club which has Introduction to Sailing and Learn Sailing Right instructional programs as well as ongoing club-wide Practical Seamanship training for every sailor. Cruisers are welcome at LMSC and find their association in this environment makes them confident on the lake.

Non member sailors are encouraged to contact the Cruising Fleet Event Coordinator on a case by case basis for permission to take part. This ensures we have adequate resources on hand for each event.
