Scheduled for April 29th and 30th 2017, just in time for a “Great 48” tune up, Flying Scot Fleet 158 and Lake Murray Sailing Club invite you to participate in our annual performance clinic, Make Your Scot Fly.
Facilitated by maker of Mad Sails and winning regatta veteran, Ryan Malmgren, this event targets the novice or intermediate Flying Scot sailor while offering an opportunity for the regatta experienced to advance to the next level.
The Make Your Scot Fly two day clinic offers a great opportunity to improve your total performance curve. Don’t Miss it! Register now!
A unique blend of coaching and on-board mentoring, Make Your Scot Fly employs an enhanced instructional approach.
- “Top Gun” Ryan Malgrem, using a very familiar format, will facilitate any land side briefings and demos, then offer on-the-water coaching from a support boat.
- Regatta experienced Flying Scot sailors will be on hand to provide on board coaching for specific skill sets as suggested by our “Top Gun” coach.
- A third component will be emphasis on crew work. On board coaches are prepared to help skipper and crews enhance boat handling and communication efficiencies.
We encourage you to bring your own boat for this event. Boat prep and familiarity with the setup are important to performance. For any who may be unable to transport boats to our venue, please call or email Fleet 158 Captain Ryan Gaskin. We do have some competitive boats available and will make every effort to accommodate you.
You should bring your regular crew if at all possible. Crew training is an important component of this clinic. If you can’t bring crew, consider attending anyway. Contact Fleet 158 Captain Ryan Gaskin if you find you find you need crew arrangements.
Is trailering your boat a barrier to attending. Are you a member of a fleet with club owned boats? If so, we do have a limited number of race ready boats that can be made available on a first come, first served basis. Contact Fleet 158 Captain Ryan Gaskin if you would like to explore this this option.
The event will involve a full day of on the water instruction, with some possibly some”dry land” demos, on Saturday. Every effort will be made to provide you with useful “on board” coaching time as needed. Sunday, we will set up a series of short races where you can try on your newfound competitive skills. During the competition, you will receive on-the-water coaching, but the competition will be real.
We offer free on-site camping, proximity to hotels, excellent clubhouse facilities and wonderful down home” hospitality. Please refer to our website, for on line registration, directions to LMSC, and local hotel information.
The club will be open at 2:00 pm Friday September 4th for guests who wish to set up camp or park boats before retiring to the hotel.
A catered BBQ Dinner will be available Saturday evening. Complimentary continental breakfasts will be available Saturday and Sunday.
Advance registration by as many participants as possible will be helpful. The fee for registration after April 24th, 2017 increases from $35 to $45. For on line registration, please mail checks, payable to Flying Scot Fleet 158, under separate cover to:
